Safari versus Mozilla

In this blog report on ZDNet, it would appear that Steve Jobs would wipe Firefox off the face of the earth:

"Notice how Steve seems to be indicating that Safari will wipe out the competition and leave only IE and Safari in the running."

Well, I guess he could try. Meanwhile, another report stated that 75% of people who downloaded Firefox did not use it.

    As a OS X user, I also have Firefox, but it's only used when Java screws up on Safari. Otherwise it's mothballed.

    A lot has to do with user habits and convenience. For most OS X users, their default browser would be Safari. It is definitely not a bad browser, so they would have little incentive to DL and use Firefox. After all, it is a fact that there are practically zero worms/virii on OS X (thru platform obscurity - not superior security; Yes, I know.)

    For savvy PC users, Firefox would be a browser of choice over Explorer, and I believe the number of users is not insignificant at all! So don't take Job's spiel as an outline for domination – it's just marketing rhetoric to frame the argument in his favour.
