Hairstyles of the Japanese Footballers
One of my sisters made an observation during the highly entertaining Australia-Japan football match that the Japanese footballers appeared rather preoccupied with their hairstyles. Every single player had some kind of fashion statement to make via their hair. Orange-dyed hair, brown-dyed hair and so forth. The diversity was astonishing. There weren't any afro, mullet* or mohawks though.
There was even one guy spotting an ultraman hairstyle!** I was almost expecting him to do some death-beam poses!
*I have a friend who has a mullet. A real life mullet in this day and age. He works in advertising. Don't ask.
**It's not a mohawk. If you had seen him you would know what I mean.

Among Asian countries, Japanese men are really keen on fashion. Conpared with Korean and Chinese players, you will understand what I mean. Not only soccar players, but also ordinal men, especially young people,are becoming more and more keen on fashion. Accesories, hat, shoes, They care for deatils. It is difficult to find young boy with black hair these days. Fashion Magazines for men are increasing. Fashion brand like Paul Smith are very popular for young men in Japan. These days this tendency spread to middle aged men, and the fashion magazines for them are becoming popular. Some foreign friends ask me if they are gay, but they are not. In Japan, dress cord for men in working is strict so it could be one of the reasons that young (before becoming officeworker, usually students)and retired men want to enjoy fashion.
Anonymous, that is interesting. Very interesting. Your observation seems accurate. I haven't thought of it that way.

Even middle-aged men? I am surprised. I guess that society is a lot more fashion-conscious than other Asian ones then?
You're right about the dress code for the salarymen. I guess there is reason why people dress. Not for conformity for certain.
