"When I get a little money, I buy books. And if there is any left over, I buy food."

Quote from Erasmus

Addendum

From the entry in Wikipedia:

Erasmus did NOT write "When I get a little money, I buy books; and if any is left over, I buy food and clothing." What he actually wrote was: "I have turned my entire attention to Greek. The first thing I shall do, as soon as the money arrives, is to buy some Greek authors; after that, I shall buy clothes." It's from a letter to Jacob Batt dated April 12, 1500.
