My father dropped me outside Beauty World at 7:46 am. I noticed that the Shop 'n Save Supermarket was already open.
There were a bunch of Ah Bengs and Ah Lians at McDonald's at this hour, talking and swearing loudly in Singlish. I thought they had probably not slept since last night.
Tony arrived a little after eight and we went to buy isotonic drinks. Tony brought two bottles. I bought one.
I was carrying:
2 torchlights
2 compasses
1 pack of plaster
1 tube of anti-sceptic
1 box of sandwiches
1 health bar
2 note pads
1 marker
1 gel-pen
1 stapler
4 maps
1 pair of gloves
1 extra pair of socks
1 long-sleeved thick cotten shirt
1 cap
1 whistle
1 oinement
1 insect-repellent spray
1 spare spectacles and case
1 brolly
1 raincoat
1 gardening shears
1 box of Panadol
1 small bottle of saline
2 mosquito patches
1 mobile phone
3 bottles of 1.5 litres of water
1 bottle of 0.5 litres of water
1 bottle of 0.33 litres of water
1 bottle of 0.33 litres of isotonic drink
6 kilogrammes or so in total? I would imagine so.

yes i had arrived late from a lack of taxis at my place in the morning :P had to go home and call.
anyway the heavier items in my pack were 4.5 to 5 litres of water, a large bowie, first aid kit, sop box, roll of white tape, and misc items like poncho multi-tool 2 torches with spare batts camera food items which were probably more than 6kg but slightly less than 10. i could have reduced the load a little especially a leaner first aid kit and less "sop" items, but it was already less than our previous hike together -tony
You carried a lot of heavy sturdy equipment like your multi-tool, your knife and all that. Quite scary!
Considering that you were already carrying 5.66 litres of liquid, that's at least 5.66 kg. The isotonic drink is denser, I'd think.
I suspect you were carrying close to 9 kg, maybe more. Depends on what kinds of torchlights. The cotton shirt must have been heavy too.
