Torres for Liverpool! That should be interesting. I wonder if he can adapt to the English game.

And Da Silva for Arsenal? Again, can he adapt?

Torres will be wearing the number 9 shirt, but the forum "experts" (not me!) are speculating that he will be more of a Beardsley or Dalgish type than a Rush, Aldridge or Fowler. Playing off the main target man. The expectation will be on him to score and to provide assists.

His adaptation will be made easier by having fellow Spaniards in the team, but more importantly, he can't do it alone. Neither could Kuyt, who was dropping deep so often to receive the ball and hold possession (pity Jari Litmanen was let go during Houllier's reign, cos he was darn good at link play).

'Pool needs more attacking verve and pace from defence and midfield, more players playing higher up the field (but without affecting the balance between defence and attack) to support posession and trouble the opposing defence. They've now gotten themselves a supposed world class striker, but could still do with a world class winger. (Sorry to Pennant and the oft-injured Kewell).

Yes, you are right, he may connect with a Spanish coach and Spanish players.

Litmanen was let go, yeah, he could have been a force during the Champions League campaign.

I think what Liverpool needs is a regular scoring striker for the standard league matches.

What do you think of Craig Bellany?
