Malaysian airborne early warning and control aircraft

Malaysia is considering purchasing refurbished E-2C Hawkeyes from Israel according to a recent report. Considering that Malaysia does not recognise Israel, this should be interesting. Israel has previously sold arms to Iran and Pakistan which similarly do not recognise her.

Malaysia also has a requirement for up to eight airborne early warning and control aircraft! Eight! Good heavens! EIGHT!?!

Integrating the datalinks between those AEW&C aircraft and their disparate fleet of F-5Es, Su-30MKMs, MiG-29Ns, F/A-18Ds will be interesting.

hmm...quite alright if the e-2c is primarily an american craft.

8 is needed if taking into consideration of east malaysia.

i thot their choice was the saab? c-295, which carries a balance beam instead of a saucer on its back.

It might be meant for keeping the East Malaysian states of Sabah & Sarawak in line.
