Pz Kpfw II

The Germans fielded large numbers of this 20mm armed vehicle in the 1939 campaign in Poland, 1940 campaign in France and 1941 in Russia. With the Pz Kpfw I, III, IV, 35t, 38t, these light vehicles were instrumental in the early victories.

It's 20mm.

It's got a high ROF.

Most tank armament of that period were of the calibres, 20mm, 37mm, and 47mm. And oh yes, machine guns too.

There were a few others with a short-barrelled 75mm for support work.

Its had its day. In 1940, this tank, together with the recently captured Pz35(t)s are the workhorse of the Panzer Divisions (although they also fielded PzIII and Pz IV)... although 20mm does look ridiculous against CharBs.

Yes, they would fit the supporting role very well with the big guns upfront.
