Evil 2

Three years ago, I was given the impression that I was done with my state-mandated obligation when I visited the chief clerk in camp. However, the official letter just didn't come informing me of my status. All was quiet for two years.

I was suspicious. I knew that something was wrong. And then, like a thunderbolt out of the blue, I received an SMS message informing me that I will be recalled for five days. Whoa. It is certainly a good thing that I didn't 'retire' all my uniforms and equipment. I have heard a lot of the men saying they will chuck everything in trash or hold a bonfire.

Man, that's a drag. When I served, we only had 2 years of inactive reserve after completing our active duty obligation. You know, I can still fit well into my old uniform 23 years later. Better not say that too loud or I'll be on a patrol boat in the Persian Gulf! Think "Apocalypse Now" with camels!

Indeed. At this age, it's a drag. Still, I am in a personal quest to get fit.

Both for my coming fitness test and for myself.

Two years of inactive reserve? What does that entail, Tim?

You're amazing, you can still fit in an uniform you wore 23 years ago? WOO HOO! Hahahaahh. Swift Boat patrol for you, Tim! HO HO HO. Remember to get off your boat and shoot that Viet Cong, urm, raghead, with a machinegun... Don't forget to claim a few Purple Hearts afterwards too.

Remember to vote Hilary or Obama. There will be no troops in the Middle East if you were to do that.

Iraq Osama? That's what they are already starting to call him. Hillary? Just too polarizing. I'm hoping for John Edwards. One thing is for sure, it will be extremely hard for a republican to get elected dog catcher after this current batch of them.

2 year of inactive duty consisted of doing nothing at all unless they called you in the event of a national emergency. So, barring a terror strike or a hurricaine you did absolutely nothing at all.

How's that quest coming. U R younger than I so can you top these benchmarks?

1) 70 pushups
2) 4 miles in 37 minutes
3) 1000 meter swimming in 12 minutes
4) 3 chinups (could do 10 back then).

Not too bad for an ol' coot of 45!

Tim, you're quite fearsome at your age!

I think I was only managing 3 chin-ups rather then the usual 7. I am making 12:30 in 2.4 km or something. 2.3+ m for the standing board jump. 10.3s or so for the shuttle run. I barely passed my sit-ups.
I should be doing a lot better really.

You don't think Barack Obama will stand a chance? I know he is an outsider but...

I don't see Republican in the near future to tell the truth.
