I was combing HMV for new music when I spotted this neat package last weekend. A Hooverphonic retrospective! A great collection of their singles except that, Hooverphonic, in my opinion, is best represented by their alluring albums, as the albums are usually conceptual and orchestral in nature with generous amounts of strings. Still, this is not a bad collection, especially for people unfamiliar with Hooverphonic. With Hooverphonic and St Etienne still active and releasing excellent material, who needs the vastly overrated Goldfrapp?

haha, c'mon, give alison goldfrapp a chance...the three bands are so different....
all goldfrapp needs is the longevity, like the other two bands had, to qualify the hype.
Yeah, they are different.
However, the second and third rather unoriginal albums from Goldfrapp sounded like a more commercial version of a Client album. Alison Goldfrapp's vocal approach sounded too much like that from Client (Sarah Blackwood and that vocalist from Technique). Heh.
Speaking of which, I have transferred the audio of two Goldfrapp concert DVDs onto two CD-Rs. Goldfrapp in concert is actually something to behold. If you haven't already seen and heard the concert DVD, well... it's great.
And she also performs her version of 'Physical (UK Girls)' in concert too! It's a hoot!
