Convergence

I just received this Front Line Assembly CD 'Convergence' after winning an eBay auction. It's a compilation of two early EPs, 'Corrosion' and 'Disorder'.

There is another Front Line Assembly CD 'Corroded Disorder' which is essentially the same two EPs with a different ordered tracklisting.

'Convergence' is an interesting collage of disturbing sounds and through these early tracks, one can appreciate how the later Front Line Assembly tracks came about.

These are good CDs to have if your really curious as to what they sounded like before "Gashed Senses & Crossfire". I too got these CDs, though I think I also have "Corrosion" on vinyl. I don't find myself returning to listen to some of these recordings. Some of the tracks sound too minimal. I'm sure there's a mood for that sometimes. But not of late.

Did you ever get "Monument"?

V, you are right. They are certainly sparse. Some of it is 'primitive', not unlike the early Delerium albums. I like them for what they are and they are pretty good as background music.

I did manage to get 'Monument' on eBay.

Also, there is also Total Terro parts I & II. These really date back. It's interesting how they've progressed. The Cryogenic collections are quite good too. It's like they've stripped all the good parts and put them in these collections. They have so many side projects, it's a wonder how they made so many of them sound so good. Truly one of the greats in synth music!

V, yes, it is very interesting as to how they have progressed. The recent excursion into ethno-pop territory with Delerium showed their ability to create melodic, perfect pop. They weren't just purveyors of doom and gloom. They weren't merely hacks creating noise without a structure. They were conscious of their ability. I am surprised.
