Nicely put together, how do you like your Wacom? I saw a book about tanks at a sale and thought of you. ((Jane's)Tanks and Combat Vehicles Recognition Guide by Christopher F. Foss) It's price was reasonable so I bought it:))) Now I have all these reference pictures of tanks from all over the world... why? I don't know, but it is your fault!! Hehehe! I like your plane drawing!
Thanks Robert. I saw your rendering of an image based on some sketches by Leonardo da Vinci. I was tempted too. I recalled his tank, helicopter and parachute and was tempted to bring them to life!
Thanks. I'm still learning. It's difficult. I keep going back to pen and paper. With that, I can sit at cafes and draw!
Your most recent digital piece is jaw-dropping though. The richness of the colours is particularly striking.
Chris Foss! He has written some of the best directories on tanks. The tank is like a modern day mythical dragon, a symbol of raw power, a symbol of death, of tyranny, a beast of strength and more. In cultural terms, the tank does reside in our mindscape, with different meanings for different persons. Like the dragon of old, I find the tank to be a delight to draw! (like the human figure). If I weren't so intent on capturing details, I would draw a tank with more fluidity... There are some great First World War tank artwork that captured the iron beast.
As for the little plane, thanks. I thought using that medium and the sparseness of it will help capture the lightness of construction.
