Production of the superlative Jagdpanther was started in January 1944. 392 examples of this assault gun with a 71 calibre-length 88mm gun were built. The formidable Jagdpanther was well-armoured, mobile and had a weapon that could destroy any Allied opposition. The frontal armour was 80mm at 50 degrees.
