T-34/85 Model 1944

The T-34 was possibly the best all-round tank of the Second World War. The T-34/85, a later development of the T-34/76 with a larger turret and 85mm gun made its appearance in early 1944. While still not as powerful as the German Panther, the T-34/85 had a gun that could penetrate 88mm of armour plate at 500 metres and 81mm at 1000 metres. Built in great numbers, these tanks steam-rolled into Germany.

29,430 of these 32-ton tanks were built from 1943 to 1945. The T-34/85 went on to see extensive service postwar, being present with the North Korean army in 1950.

I like the Soviet armor for their simplicity. And it matched the Germans in the battlefield despite the Panzers' being more technologically sophisticated.

Showed up in the (scale) modeling as well.

Yes, simple to manufacture, tough and usable in the proper environment.

You do scale models?
