Byzantine Cavalryman, 14th Century
An ink sketch of a dismounted Byzantine cavalryman with a torch at night.
Illustration Friday Theme: Night
"You see the new sensation,
I heard it call your name.
You're running 'round in circles,
You're making right again.
(The) telephone keeps ringing,
Your head is in the sand,
(The) future is unfolding,
But it's not what you had planned."

Wonderful ink sketch. This would be great in an illustrated history book. I too love OMD. I listen to the best of all the time-sometimes while I work. Cheers!
He's very striking looking...you have such a fine and precise technique! I would love to see you illustrate a whole series of knights and horses and so on. I think you'd really bring them to life:>
Thanks Holly. I love reading history especially if there are illustrations. OMD is also a favourite too. I have every single album and a lot of their CD singles. I also have records too. They are quite a joy to listen to when drawing.
Carla, thank you. I have been meaning to examine Gothic and Italian plate armour of the 15th century and would be drawing knights constantly. At this point, I am still grappling with drawings of Roman infantry.
Thanks Carha. Byzantine history is intriguing. A thousand forgotten years. I read John Julius Norwich's 'A Short History of the Byzantium' a few months back and have bought quite a few other volumes including academic ones on the Byzantium. Images and pictures would be nice. I would also love to look at their religious icons. I have only seen one in real life.
