I've had to catch this via the sterile updates today provided to my Google page - I'm really not seeing much more than the time and score - but it's still been interesting to follow. As such a new person to the sport I have few expectations as to which team would be expected to dominate.

The Czech Republic appears to be doing a handy job of schooling the US during the first half. Oh, well, it isn't as if anyone seriously expected the U.S. to do well this time out.

The only team is that is hyped up more than England has got to be the USA. And one or two "experts" on ESPN were proclaiming Kasey Keller to be the best goalie in the world, that he is their key player cos "defence wins championships".

Sorry, you expert dopes. A goalkeeper alone does not constitute a defence. Plus, the poor defending, and lack of link play between the midfield and the single lone forward, was always going to doom you against a team like the Czechs.
