Colombo Court

For over thirty years, Colombo Court, a large, faceless mall-cum-office complex, was a fixture on the landscape, housing law offices, the original Cortina department store, and much much more. A few years ago, it was demolished to make way for an extension of the supreme court. Posted by Picasa

Colombo Court... the name brings a flood of memories. I have this image in my mind of a terrace court with a 60-ish 'ball sculpture' fountain... I think I still have faded photos of myself as a kid standing in front of it. Have you got any old time shots? :-)

Sadly, I don't. I do remember an open circular terrace type space before the renovation to its final incarnation with eating establishments and a Times bookshop in the ground/basement level.

Wow! Do you remember more? When is this?

I'm still looking for older shots of Singapore. Something that is meaningful to us. The 70s and 80s.

The 50s and 60s are too far distant...

I had spend a better part of my childhood weekends in the Colombo Court as our family business The Novelty Store used to be operating at the first floor in this complex. There are many unique shops in the complex. I remember an Arabic perfume store which can concoct bespoke perfumes to customers liking.
