Ngee Ann City was built on the site of a Teochew cemetary, land belonging to the the Ngee Ann Kongsi clan and the Ngee Ann Building which used to house Mont 'Dor, a well-known cafe and the most luxurious and upscale apartment block in Singapore in the early seventies.
