Illustration Friday

Theme: Float

Airships. A quick late night piece at 1:00 am using Pilot pigment pens and Copic markers.

I had a bigger version of this in mind but ultimately, I settled on something simple.

Very beautiful and floating sense!
What a blue and cold illo, love all the documentation research to draw these beauties.
Great aerial perspective.
Nice work.

Very nice for a "quick" late-night illustration! I love the airships, the colors, the vertical space..it works well!

Hi Rubio, Carla, Thanks for your kind comments. I have a volume titled 'A History of Flight' on my shelves. I pulled it out to see how a gondola would look like and the various kinds of covered one.

I feel somewhat guilty as this piece feels unfinished. I think it would probably worked better as a vector-based drawing and a better finish. By keeping it 'long-ish' and thin with many airships, I think a lot more can be achieved. As it is, it is a quick one. I didn't have he energy that late night.

Ellen, thanks for your kind words. I do wish it had been more finished.

Alina, thanks. I visited your blog, you're fantastic. Seriously good.

Christine, I tried to give a curvature and greater detail, well, maybe, I will a followup one of these days. Something more ambitious. Thanks for your comments.

Niko, thank you.

Ginger, I appreciate your comments. I was thinking of flying men with umbrellas (guess which movie), geese, children with balloons and more. Not merely airships. Ultimately, I settled for a quick sketch.

Thanks Bruno. Just a simple one. I will do something more ambitious in future.
