Ketchup

I love ketchup. I used to have large amounts of ketchup with my fries, eggs and more. Over the years, I have tried different kinds. Here are my ratings:

Heinz has remained a great favourite. Sadly, I haven't seen any Bonnie Hubbard ketchup in years. It's probably been discontinued.

It is a shame to see some fine grill restuarants with serving poor ketchup.

Note: The more bottles there are, the better it is.

what factors go into your rating?

taste - tomatoey-ness? fruitiness? vinegar content?
shape of bottle? squeezeys are bestest!
origin? would you consume commie ketchup?
celebrity endorsement? clearly, britney ketchup beats madonna ketchup

Actually, there are quite a bit.

Consistency. Watery or thick.

Sweetness? Vinegar content like you said, etc.

Sin Sin, Maggi and Farmland are generally sickening sweet. Sin Sin and Farmland feels watery at times. Nothing as consistent or thick as Heinz or Bonnie Hubbard. Likewise, there is higher vinegar content in Heinz and Bonnie Bubbard.

Tropicana is somewhat on the thin side but it feels fruity rather than sweet. Del Monte is thick and has a weaker hint of vinegar and is not too sickening sweet.

As for Madonna, clearly having ketchup and wearing leotards and dancing may not be a good move. What if she spilled them on her leotards?

I prefer chilli sauce more than ketchup :)
The only ketchup that I frequently have is Maggi..
but seems like Maggi ketchup from your chart has poor rating :P

Since u highly recommend Heinz, I will give that a try :)

Heheh. Well, it's difficult to say really since you're a chilli person whereas I avoid chilli like the plague.

To me, Maggi is the pits. The worst of all ketchup.

Thanks thanks. Give Heinz a try.

For that matter, have you tried HP sauce? Worchester sauce? Both are used in Asian cooking sometimes.

A1 sauce is pretty alright too.

I like chilli sauce, esp Nandos chilli sauce... yyuummmmm!! best of all! Never try Heinz ketchup though... is it sweet? spicy sweet? or is it really mild? Ok silly questions... my bad... I never really venture into ketchup world before...

Ole' Wolvie, I think ketchup can be a differentiator. Imagine great French fries with Maggi. Ewwwwww!

Andrew, when I living in the UK some years back, somehow, I didn't notice what kind of ketchup the normal British person would use. I guess you have confirmed it?

Chen, my mother uses Worcester sauce with her Chinese cooking. I can't remember with what food. It is used for flavouring and what not. I don't know if it is applied directly to the food. Chen, you can try both HP and A1 sauces. They go with meats.

Sharlet, those McDonald packets? Heheh. I think they are somewhat too sweet for me. I can't remember. I can't remember but one of the fast food joints in town uses Heinz. Carl's Junior doesn't. They have crap ketchup.

Pinkys, I'm afraid I can't relate to chilli. Hahahaha. I tasted it once and ever wanted to be anywhere near it again. Hahahahah. Well, one thing that I have noticed is that many chilli people don't eat ketchup. For me, a good ketchup must have a strong vinegar content, must not be sickening sweet, must be thick and consistent.

Well, I like French mustard too.

Blue Moon, have you tried Worchester sauce?

If you haven't, you really should.
