The Flight of Stairs

We penetrated deeper into the rainforest and an hour later, we had spotted something unusual. It was a flight of stone stairs leading up. It had brought back memories of 1981 when I visited this place as a thirteen year old kid. I was with a boy scout troop then and we had done an all night circumnavigation of the entire circumference of the MacRitchie Reservoir. We were elated! Here we were at the objective! Kelvin and Jon posed for this particular shot.

The flight of stairs extended quite a distance.

We took numerous photos of it while we ascended. Kelvin had made a video of the ascend.

Impressive! i think i saw u guys last sat morning, back along the more "commercial" tracks, i saw your friend i think Jon. Heh

Nice, you guys manage to find the shrine area. How often you guys go there?

I was thinking of visiting the area as well in a group. But we lacked the directions. Paths and tracks get covered pretty fast by flora. :P

Thanks! You saw Jon! I guess he was pretty distinctive.

Actually, that was our second attempt there. We had gone once in April and once in May. Our next hike will likely be in half a year. We were thinking of that area between Upper Pierce and MacRitchie Reservoir. Lower Mandai area. It's a lot more covered and crazy. The distances is likely double of that. We have to make plans.

There were trails actually. One had just to follow the trails. You will be surprised. Trails remain there after years despite the growth. A semblance of it will remain there. There's white tape and cloth all over actually.

My friend has created a map. Use this one:

It's not a survey map by any stretch of the imagination. We had used it.
