Hiking in the Central Catchment Nature Reserve

Jonathan had first suggested a small hiking trip a few months ago over the course of an email. We had then deliberated as to the locale of our little walk.

We met up one evening at his place in Cairnhill and discussed. That had led to an enjoyable hike in the Central Catchment Reserve.

After the last hike a fortnight ago, we had made arrangements for another. This time, we met a lot earlier at Rifle Range Road at 9:30 am.

At this hour on a weekend, we could see many cyclists and joggers along Rifle Range Road. Kelvin and I arrived on a taxi with Tony and Jon arriving with Robert after. A moment, we were all prepared.

Our objectives were:

1. Find the ruins of the Shinto shrine built by the Japanese occupiers during the Second World War,

2. Traverse the wilderness from West to East.
