A Surprise at the Petaling Hut

As we sat and rested, we planned the next part of our journey. The original intention was to stroll along the Rifle Range Link back to Rifle Range Road.

At that moment, several cross-country runners from from schools ran by. Students.

Suddenly, a sprightly being in bright, fluorescent yellow ran by at high speed. I could not believe my eyes. Could it be?

It was! It was Seow Buay! Astonished, I stopped him, shouting 'Seow Buay!' What on earth was this veteran wargamer, the crusher of opponents, doing here at the Petaling Hut?

To re-assure myself, I took a photo with Seow Buay. Apparently, as Seow Buay had previously mentioned, he did these runs frequently.

In Seow Buay's own words from an email later:

"total distance is about 12 km around the reservoir. there are parts where you have to walk - eg the stretch where there was a landslide (where I headed after we met). Also the run is a slow one. timing is about 6+ minutes per km ie between 1 hr 20 minutes and 1 hr 30 minutes. "

The man is inhuman! And thus, he ran off into the depths of the Sime Track.

Fortunately, as Seow Buay had advised us, it was possible to walk along Sime Track despite the landslide and so, we headed east along the Sime Track after.
