Book I am reading at present

I am reading 'The Real Thing: Truth and Power at the Coca-Cola Company' by Constance L. Hays. This is a highly engrossing tome on the rise of the Coca-Cola Company from a company with a billion or so in market capitalisation in the eighties to one that is over a hundred billion by the end of the nineties.

The chapter on the introduction of the New Coke was highly amusing as was the one on the Pepsi Challenge.

The most of revealing aspect was the Coca-Cola's company's focus on share price and shareholder value and the establishment of Coca-Cola Enterprises and the demise of the myriad number of bottlers.

The financial sleight of hand exhibited by a company selling sugar-laced water is simply astonishing but not exactly unknown. Hay had documented it in detail. Hahaha.
